Born and raised in Calgary, Marina moved out of town for work as an adult, ending up in Airdrie in 2010. “I’ve been an athlete my whole life competing in various sports, fitness, and adventurous outdoor activities. I have dabbled in some kickboxing for fun and fitness, all the while wondering if I had what it takes to get in the ring and actually face off against someone. When I heard about the Airdrie Oilmen’s Association and the White Collar Boxing charity event I knew this was my chance to find out. I walked into White Collar Boxing Co. for the first time in January to start training for this event, and it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions and lessons learned. I am grateful for the commitment from the coaches and the endless support and encouragement of the other female fighters. When I’m not learning how to avoid getting beat up you can find me adventuring in the great outdoors with my husband and dog, and always seeking out that next physical and mental challenge. I’m excited to be a part of this event and make some epic memories, if I can remember them at the end ;), and all for a great cause!
